Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to and use of the website. Reading its material, opening a page, or submitting a search means the visitor accepts every term below. Anyone who does not agree should stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website is not connected with a federal, state, or local government body. Neither the website nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Its purpose is to identify Ottawa County and Michigan criminal-record resources. It is not a consumer reporting agency or private investigation firm.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government affiliation. It neither stores official criminal records nor files papers, obtains official copies, or performs an official background check for a visitor.

The material points to record custodians such as the Ottawa County sheriff, District and Circuit courts, Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center, and Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Some pages also connect to outside search tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the website is conditioned on an agreement not to:

  • Violate federal, Michigan, or local law
  • Threaten, stalk, intimidate, or harass another person
  • Use website content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Enter restricted systems or attempt unauthorized access
  • Operate bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools
  • Interfere with performance or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information obtained here or through a linked tool may not be used to stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate. Michigan law also restricts misuse of Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry data, and unlawful acts directed at a listed person may carry criminal consequences. Registry access supports safety awareness, not vigilantism or prohibited decisions.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create credit reports, consumer reports, or official background checks. The same is true of the service offered here by advertising partners. Information from the website or a linked tool must not be used to:

  • Make an employment decision
  • Evaluate a tenant or housing application
  • Set insurance terms or assess credit
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or public benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A person who needs a lawful check for a regulated purpose must use the Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center or a provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

The content is general information, not legal advice. Only a licensed Michigan attorney can advise how a warrant, charge, conviction, or set-aside rule applies to a specific matter.

6. No Warranties

All services and content are provided "as is." No promise is made that:

  • Information will always be current, complete, or accurate
  • Access will remain continuous or interruption-free
  • Pages will contain no defect, error, or security weakness
  • An outside search result will be complete or correctly matched

Criminal records change as charges are filed or dismissed and records are corrected, restricted, or set aside. Gaps and delays are unavoidable. Website content is never an official statement from the sheriff, a court, or another government office.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to county offices, court portals, Michigan agencies, legal-aid groups, and outside services. We do not control a destination's content, availability, charges, or data practices and accept no responsibility for them. Review the destination's terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Ottawa County Criminal History or its content partners own the website's text, graphics, logos, and code. Copying, adapting, distributing, or building on that material requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the greatest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss or damage arising from website use, linked services, or reliance on information obtained through either.

10. Indemnification

A visitor agrees to defend and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by that visitor's use or violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Michigan law governs these terms. A dispute tied to website use must be brought in a court located in Michigan.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revision takes effect when the new version is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, every remaining provision continues in force. The affected language is adjusted only to the extent needed for enforcement.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be sent through the Contact page.
